Trained in piano at a young age, Jeff Smith moved beyond the classical with his experimental noise projects Euccia and AODL. Smith implements a variety of techniques to create his harsh sounds, primarily working with analog sounds in AODL. This gives AODL a more straightforward approach, foregoing the vast layers of sound some of his contemporaries employ to simple, harsh noise into listeners' skulls. AODL's music has been featured on over 20 releases, ranging from CD-Rs to cassettes and vinyl LPs, and has also teamed up with Salt Lake's Lion Dub Station for a collaborative release. AODL has also performed at the Denver Noise Fest 2012, and will release a new 10" entitled Fans of Flesh and Textured Wrecks in the near future.
